At the Helm
Co-Founder and CEO
Aaron is the chief strategist and visionary at Prowess. Since co-founding the company in 2003, Aaron has used his technical aptitude, marketing sensibility, and leadership to help evolve the strategic direction of the company. He keeps a pulse on the ongoing operations of the business and overall industry trends. He strives to look at technologies from a holistic and customer-centric perspective—anticipating new and better ways that Prowess can serve its clients.
Coming from a career in IT consulting, Aaron is a technology and business generalist who knows how technology works and how it can be most effectively leveraged by businesses. In his earlier role as president for a regional Internet-application-development firm, Aaron led the company successfully through the economic downturn of the early 2000s. He then moved to a broader technology-business opportunity, taking on the revival of a Seattle-based IT firm, where he acted as the director of business development.
When Aaron isn’t keeping shop in the Prowess Seattle headquarters, he has been known to seek out optimal snow conditions, where he can carve telemark ski turns knee-deep in powder.
Co-Founder and Chairwoman
Melyssa is the driving force for quality at Prowess. After co-founding the company in 2003, she served as CEO until 2006, laying the foundation of the business by establishing key relationships and defining core competencies and fundamental business processes. As Chairwoman, Melyssa helps with the day-to-day management of Prowess, implementing policy and instilling processes in production and management that ensure consistent quality standards company-wide.
Before Prowess, Melyssa worked in software quality assurance, where she gained key technical insight and low-level business-process experience. She began her career in public relations and marketing, where she developed her skills in communications and relationship management. From there, she entered the IT space, working in PR and marketing roles for technology firms.
When she’s not steering the ship from our Seattle headquarters, you might find Melyssa teaching art as a docent at the local elementary school.
Vice President of Consulting Services
Fen is our strategic-relationship ace at Prowess. He has the rare ability to see the big picture and hone in on the right marketing solution for each of our technical clients. As one client put it, “Fen can see the forest for the trees.” He is keenly aware of individual customer’s needs, and he works tirelessly to put together the best team possible for each project to ensure the objectives are met for every deliverable.
Fen joined the Prowess team in 2008, bringing with him two decades of leadership, strategy, and project-management experience. He has been instrumental in growing the Consulting Services business unit, and he prides himself on recruiting particularly competent project managers and top creative talent.
When Fen isn’t wrapped up in strategy meetings at our Salt Lake City office, you’ll likely find him on his mountain bike escaping into Utah’s Wasatch mountain range.
Vice President of Engineering Services
Nathan is our in-the-weeds technical guru. He’s been a key player at Prowess since its inception in 2003, and he has played a major role in many of Prowess’s early business victories, including successful keynote technology demonstrations and architecting globally distributed IT solutions.
As a gifted engineering architect, Nathan adds significant value to technical consulting projects. He leads a growing team of engineers that comprises the Engineering Services business unit at Prowess. Before joining Prowess, Nathan was an independent technology consultant and a systems administrator for a regional web-development and hosting company.
When not in the Seattle office furiously engineering client solutions, Nathan feeds his love for astronomy with a lot of after-dark star gazing.
Vice President of Content and Web Services
Ted is our “get-it-done” guy at Prowess. He joined the Prowess team in 2011 to help launch and manage an extensive Microsoft SharePoint redesign project. He liked it so much that he decided to stick around, and after managing a series of successful projects over the next few years, he became Vice President of Content and Web Services in 2014. He manages programs for clients including SharePoint, band journalism, technical writing, and content publishing.
Ted’s not afraid to get his hands dirty, jumping in to help with any Prowess project at any time. “Whatever it takes,” is his motto. He comes from a professional background in technology, sales, and project management, giving him the expertise and breadth of experience to manage a wide variety of services for Prowess.
When Ted is not in the Prowess Seattle headquarters trying to keep all his constituents happy, you might find him putting his managerial skills to good use in an entirely different setting—coaching his kids’ sports teams.
The Prowess Story
Melyssa Romney and Aaron Suzuki joined forces in 2003 to meet the needs of a leading tech company seeking to establish a new working relationship based on trust and quality deliverables. Combining Aaron’s technical and strategic skills with Melyssa’s marketing expertise, they laid the foundation for a technical consulting business that, more than a decade later, remains committed to building trust and delivering quality, and that thrives on technology.
